I always enjoy hearing other people’s success stories and even their mishaps or awkward moments on the job. When I read others’ stories I realize that I’m not alone when I’ve made a mistake, and I can learn from others, whether they made a mistake or were successful in their venture.

Yes. I agree. It’s always good to hear about how other people handled certain situations. And, hopefully we can learn from them.

  3. Carla

It would be interesting to read about others who have found their dream jobs through Express. I know I did! Thanks Express, I enjoy this blog.

I’d love to see more on hiring/supervising and other issues related to mid-career workers. Maybe burnout, professional development strategies for advanced professionals, promotions, retirement.

@ Carla – That’s something we’re really hoping to bring to the blog. We’d love to hear your story.
Also, you should think about entering our associate testimonial contest and tell us more about your dream job – you could win some great prizes 🙂
@ BonnieAnn – Great suggestions! Thanks for sharing these ideas. Stay tuned, because we’ll be bringing you more on them soon.

I would like to know how employers feel about hiring “slightly older” people who, through unforeseen circumstances are finding themselves in the position that they need to find a job in a new town and who still love to work!

I couldn’t have said that better, Kathy. I have never been in a situation like this, so I feel like a fish out of water to begin with and then you throw the age thing in. I was also discouraged by the testing thing…due to the fact that I totaly freeze and I know I am much better than the test reflects. Until yesterday, I was not confident in the staffing places in Knoxville…lack of follow-through, no response to phone calls or emails, and then I met 2 people from Express and they seem like a breath of fresh air. Thanks for letting me ramble I feel much better. I am also hopeful again.
