On the Job Podcast S5:E2 – Giving Back to Those Who Served

We’re excited to announce  a brand-new episode of the Express Employment Professionals’ On the Job Podcast!

A lot can change in a year, especially the kind of year we’ve all had. This season, we’re shining a light on folks who have chosen unique career paths; by necessity or by choice. You’ll  hear surprising stories of people excelling in non-traditional roles and meet folks who have put non-profit work front and center in their lives.

Season 5, Episode 2: Giving Back to Those Who Served

For the Calabrese family, based in Utica, New York, serving their community is a family tradition. In 2013, John Calabrese Sr. and his wife Lori embarked on a new career by opening up their own Express Employment Professionals franchise. Intrigued by the business, their son, John Jr., joined the cause and began doing the important work of matching candidates with companies and vice versa. Along the way, he noted that a lot of the area’s unemployed were also veterans – many of them homeless and struggling. So he and his family launched the Veterans Supply Drive initiative, using two repurposed military vehicles to collect and distribute food and clothing, as well as monetary donations for like-minded charities. Twenty tons of donated food later, John Jr. has received awards for his important and proactive work.

Debunking Staffing Company Myths

There’s a lot of misinformation out there when it comes to staffing companies. For example, plenty of job seekers assume there’s a fee associated with staffing services when there very rarely is. Express Employment Professionals, for example, never charges a fee to find people great jobs.

Temperature Screener

In this month’s Job Spotlight, we’re taking a look at what it means to be a Temperature Screener. Temperature Screeners are responsible for taking and recording the temperatures of employees and guests using thermometers. In this role, you will be expected to have good customer service skills and the ability to assess an individual’s risk of infecting others with a virus such as Covid-19. (more…)
