Question of the Month: Does Your Company Have a Workplace Chaplain?

Company cultures vary across the country. Some companies prefer professional dress codes while others embrace shorts and flipflops. One business might offer traditional Christmas bonuses while another chooses to give incremental raises throughout the year.

It’s these differences that make for a diverse and interesting economy, full of different companies, each one well-matched to a particular type of employee personality.

Open-Ended Survey: Tell Us What You Think of the Blog!

We hope your holidays are full of joyous jubilation… and we’d like to hear from you!

Here we are, wrapping up another year of Movin’ On Up. Another year full of interview tips, resume re-works, career advice, and lots more.

We differentiate ourselves by giving you personalized content to help you get a job and survive in the workplace. Real, pertinent information that you can use in your next interview or on the first day of a new job.

That’s what we’re here for.

And that’s why we’re asking you to answer this survey. There’s just one question: What do you think about the blog? You can tell us your favorite (or least favorite) blogs, topics you want to see us write more (or less) about, and anything else that tickles your fancy.

We want to write things you want to read.

And this survey question will help with that.

Anything else you want to say to us? Let us know in the comments section below!

Poll: Do You Like Your Current Job?

Jobs are tough. We have to spend hours away from our friends and family doing something we might not love so that we can afford to pay our mortgages, utility bills, and many other things.

But for those who love their jobs? The paycheck becomes a bonus to the work instead of being the sole purpose of working.

We want to know how you feel about your current position. Whether you love it, hate it, or are indifferent about it. And, given those feelings, do you see yourself leaving anytime soon?

Let us know by voting in our poll!

Poll Question: What Type of Part-time Work Would You Consider?

We are all more than workers. We’re fathers, mothers, sons, daughters, grandparents, hobbyists, and so much more. Which means we need time to take care of sick kids, help our parents in their old age, or simply to pursue other passions.

But with a fulltime job, that’s not always easy. We need to get things done on a deadline; and sometimes, that means sacrificing time with our family and friends or a possible vacation opportunity.

For some, the standard five day, 8-to-5 work week just isn’t working anymore. Something more flexible is preferred, and part-time work could be the solution.

But not every type of part-time work is going to be right for all of us. What kind of part-time work would you consider?

Poll: How has your education affected your career path?

MOV_POLL-ICONEducational paths, like college and career technical schools, can help pave the way to landing your dream job. But sometimes, the jobs we end up in aren’t directly tied to the education we received. Express Employment Professionals recently released the results of a survey conducted in both the U.S. and Canada which revealed that the least important factor when looking at job candidates was education. Instead, work ethic/integrity and attitude were the key characteristics that affected the hiring decision.

For our August question of the month, we want to know what role your education has played in your career or job search.

Movin’ On Up is brought to you by Express Employment Professionals.
