Educational paths, like college and career technical schools, can help pave the way to landing your dream job. But sometimes, the jobs we end up in aren’t directly tied to the education we received. Express Employment Professionals recently released the results of a survey conducted in both the U.S. and Canada which revealed that the least important factor when looking at job candidates was education. Instead, work ethic/integrity and attitude were the key characteristics that affected the hiring decision.

While unemployed I took a one year certification course from the University of Delaware’s Wilmington campus. It was a paralegal certification course in which I maintained a 3.9 GPA throughout. I enjoyed the course, but I am working in a warehouse.

My degree furthered my passion and love for Musical Theatre. It has been an uphill climb but I’m finally creating a career path that will let my talents shine. I’m heading back to school to become a teacher in Communication and Theatre. I can’t tell you how excited I am.
