Temperature Screener

In this month’s Job Spotlight, we’re taking a look at what it means to be a Temperature Screener. Temperature Screeners are responsible for taking and recording the temperatures of employees and guests using thermometers. In this role, you will be expected to have good customer service skills and the ability to assess an individual’s risk of infecting others with a virus such as Covid-19.

 

Required Education:

A high-school diploma or equivalent is usually preferred.

 

Pay:

This varies depending on a variety of factors (e.g. experience, geographic area, industry, etc.), but Temperature Screeners can make as much as $18 per hour.

 

What Temperature Screeners Do:

They deal with a variety of tasks, including:

  • Taking and recording temperature of individuals entering the building using a thermometer
  • Assessing an individual’s risk of spreading infectious diseases to others
  • Self-screening before coming to work
  • Wearing provided personal protective equipment (PPE) while at work
  • Following processes outlined by client company

 

What Qualities Should Temperature Screeners Have?

Every position is different, but many companies look for the following skills and attributes:

  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Customer service experience
  • Attention to detail
  • Excellent documentation skills
  • Experience in compliance-oriented environment
