Mentorships are important for training and developing a company’s future leaders and inspiring innovative thinkers. From entry-level employees to the C-suite, mentorships play a vital role in building expertise and retaining knowledge that drives an employee’s growth and success. Mentorship programs strengthen relationships between current employees and add value to their work, and could be the deciding factor between which company a job seeker chooses to work for.
Workplace Initiatives
According to a survey conducted by The Harris Poll on behalf of Express Employment Professionals, U.S. and Canadian job seekers believe in-house mentorship programs aid training and upskilling while attracting prospective employees. Most respondents indicated their companies provide on-the-job training and upskilling, while only 64% of U.S. and 34% of Canadian companies offer mentorship programs.
In-House Mentorship Programs Gaining Popularity Among Job Seekers
In-house mentorship programs are seen as a workplace benefit for job seekers. When looking at potential companies to work for, 85% of U.S. and 87% of Canadian job seekers find them more attractive if they offer a mentorship program. Of companies that don’t currently have a mentorship program, 52% of U.S. and 41% of Canadian hiring decision-makers say they plan to implement one in the next two years, according to The Harris Poll.
